Burgum to deliver State of State speech at Minot State

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum is scheduled to deliver his the 2018 State of the State speech in Minot.

The first-term Republican governor has said he intends to "highlight the state's challenges and successes from the past year and outline his vision and agenda for the future."

North Dakota's budget is expected to be a big part of the address. Burgum also is expected to tout his so-called Main Street Initiative that aims to turn downtown areas into vibrant social and economic hubs that are attractive to live in.

The event starts at 10 a.m. at Minot State University. It's the first such address by a governor in non-legislative session year since former Gov. John Hoeven did so in 2002.
