Student-turned-gangsters arrested after encounter with cops in Rohtak

The police said they had received a tip-off that the accused were coming near Suncity to collect a payment.

Two namesake gangsters, Vikas alias Fouji and Vikas alias Action, carrying rewards of Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1 lakh respectively on their heads, were arrested by the anti-vehicle theft team of the Rohtak police on Monday after a shootout here.

The two accused are third-year students of Jat college, Rohtak, and recently joined the Bittu gang. They have since committed two murders and several incidents of robberies. The police said they seized nine pistols from their possession.

The police said they had received a tip-off that the accused were coming near Suncity to collect some payment. A police naka was set up there. When the accused were asked to stop, they both fired at the cops and tried to run away. The police said several teams chased the gangsters and overpowered them.
