A day after 20 Aam Aadmi Party MLAs were disqualified for holding an office of profit, the Delhi Congress on Monday carried out a march to demand the resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Congress workers and leaders, including Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken, marched from their office on Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg towards the Delhi Secretariat, before they were stopped at the police headquarters near ITO.
Mr. Maken said the Congress had won its “battle” against the 20 MLAs who were appointed parliamentary secretaries and would win “the second battle” when Mr. Kejriwal was removed. Mr. Maken said that the Delhiites were tired of the “corruption and inefficiency” of the AAP government and were looking for a change.
Charges AAP govt.
Mr. Maken said the AAP had promised that its MLAs would be like “ordinary workers” but the Kejriwal government had wasted no time in increasing the salary of MLAs and appointing parliamentary secretaries.
He said the Election Commission (EC) had delayed taking a call on the 20 MLAs, alleging a “nexus” between the AAP and the BJP. He asked why the EC had not disqualified the 20 MLAs before the Rajya Sabha polls earlier this month. The AAP’s three candidates won unopposed.
