Sheriff's office looking for person of interest in Tuesday morning shooting
On Tuesday, January 23, 2018 around 12:39 a.m. Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a “Shooting with Injuries” on Commerce Drive off of SC 329 in Gaffney, SC.
Upon arrival responding officer’s located a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu vehicle, silver in color with bullet damage to the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle sustained a fatal wound. Investigators interviewed a passenger that was in the vehicle and based off information provided from that passenger, a suspect followed them from a local gas station on SC 18 (Shelby Highway) at Pleasant School Road and started shooting into the vehicle as they traveled north on SC 18. The driver continued onto SC 329 a short distance and pulled into Commerce Drive and stopped. The shooter fled the scene and remains unknown; however investigators obtained video footage from a local convenience store of a vehicle and person of interest.
Cherokee County Sheriff’s Investigators have pictures of a vehicle that they would like to locate, as well as a picture of a person of interest they would like to identify and speak with in regards to the shooting. The investigation is ongoing and remains very active, the shooter should be considered armed and dangerous. Chevrolet Blazer or GMC Jimmy light colored (Champagne, Beige or Silver)
Person of Interest:
Possible Hispanic male, Slim to Medium Build and Height of 5’6” to 5’8”
