PHILADELPHIA -- Based on recent Super Bowl history, the color uniforms worn by the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII are more significant than what color fans should wear or purchase should they swing by the Mall of America before heading into the game on Super Bowl Sunday.
The Patriots are the designated home team for the Super Bowl, because the NFC and AFC alternates every year, and as such were given the first chance to decide which uniform combination they will wear against the Eagles.
As ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday the Patriots will wear their white uniforms.
A team spokesman confirmed to NJ Advance Media that the Eagles will wear their home green jerseys with white pants.
Why the Eagles will win the Super Bowl
Schefter pointed out that the team wearing white jerseys has won 12 of the last 13 Super Bowls, including the Patriots who wore white last season in an overtime comeback victory against the Atlanta Falcons to overcome a 28-3 third quarter deficit.
Regardless of what color the Eagles are wearing, the team is heading to Minnesota on a mission.
"Tom Brady is definitely the greatest quarterback of all time," Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins said following Sunday's NFC Championship Game victory. "But, that doesn't mean he's unbeatable. We have a destination that we're getting to ... No matter who's in front of us. We've got somewhere to go.
"We don't care about who's in front of us. We're worried about running through whoever it is."
However, after taking a quick look through the photo archives, it's worth noting the Eagles wore their green jerseys and white pants when they lost to the Patriots (who were wearing white jerseys) in Super Bowl XXXIX:
