The Blacklist: Whose Bones Are in the Bag?

This season of The Blacklist has been uncorking some real humdingers as it dives into new, dark territory. Tom's (Ryan Eggold) death, Liz's (Megan Boone) embracing of her criminal instincts, and Red's (James Spader) rebuilding of his empire have all been strong threads that have rejuvenated a series that doesn't seem afraid of running out of story.

But the king of all of this season's tasty morsels is the skeleton that's in that bag. Whose bones are they? Creator Jon Bokenkamp wouldn't tell us. Megan Boone told us she didn't know. We took some guesses.

We're not the only ones wondering. We asked Harry Lennix, who plays Harold Cooper in the show, who he thought the bones belonged to and he was just as perplexed and curious as we were. "I have no idea whose bones are in that bag," he told us with a laugh while at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. But he at least has some theories.

The Blacklist: Did Reddington Pull Off The Heist of the Century?

"My theory about the bones is that it must be a relative to Red, maybe to Red and Elizabeth Keen, I don't know," he said. "It must be something that Mr. Kaplan set up, because that must have been her failsafe."

We all seem to be arriving at a similar starting point: that the bones must belong to a relative of Red's. But who?

The Blacklist airs Wednesday nights at 8/7c on NBC.
