An 18-year-old driver was arrested Thursday after she allegedly hit a Thibodaux Police unit and a sign at Chase Bank.

Breion James, 18, 118 Robinson Court, Gibson, is charged with hit-and-run driving, flight from an officer, crossing the centerline and failure to display license plate.

Thibodaux Police got a report Thursday afternoon of a large fight near Bradford and Henderson streets, Police Chief Bryan Zeringue said in a news release Monday. As officers responded, James allegedly crossed the centerline near West 10th Street and Caroline Avenue, hit a police unit and then sped away.

Zeringue said officers pursued the car throughout the city. After James allegedly hit the bank sign, she eventually pulled into the parking lot of an apartment complex Oakley Avenue.

James' license plate had envelopes duct-taped over it, Zeringue said. She told police she and her friends had planned to fight someone, but the fight did not happen and no victim ever came forward.
