The Terrebonne Parish Council will decide Tuesday whether to join pending litigation against opioid manufacturers and distributors.
Council Chairman Steve Trosclair said the parish is considering entering into a class action lawsuit with other parishes and municipalities throughout the state.
The attorneys being considered to represent the council, Charles C. Bourque, C. Berwick Duval and Hunt Downer, would provide their services free of charge, Trosclair said.
The council is considering joining the statewide suit because of the rampant drug abuse in the parish, and across the nation, Trosclair said.
The council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in second floor meeting room at Government Tower. The meeting was rescheduled from Wednesday because of the Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce Banquet.
