China is in love with Aamir Khan, that’s a reality we have established long back. They even address him as Uncle Khan. Many of the actor’s films have released in China since 3 Idiots happened. P.K. too got a big release and great reception. But the kind of frenzy Dangal caused is something no one anticipated. The story of female foeticide and women empowerment in the film resonated so deeply with the movie going audience that they watched it again and again. Resultant? It became the highest grossing Indian film in China. Now yet another Aamir film threatens to take its place. Secret Superstar which released last week in China, had debuted on the top spot. It defeated Dangal in the first day itself. But that’s nothing compared to what happened at Shanghai when Aamir went to promote the film there. The crowd swelled every minute. Secret Superstar has got a wide release in the Chinese market. With a tremendous pre release buzz, decent content and nearly 6000 screens at its disposal, the movie has performed tremendously well. In fact, it has beaten the lifetime collections of PK in China in just three days. Secret Superstar also broke several records set by Dangal.
