AFC Cup West Zone playoff first-leg: Busaidi nets winner for Al Suwaiq

Ali al Busaidi scored the only goal of the match as Al Suwaiq edged past hosts Hilal Al Quds Club of Palestine 1-0 in the first-leg of the AFC Cup West Zone playoff at the Arab American University Stadium in West Bank on Monday.

Busaidi, who was part of Oman’s Gulf Cup-title winning squad struck the decisive goal in the 26th minute for the Faiz al Rusheidi-led Oman club.

The second-leg will be played in Muscat on January 29 with the winner advancing to the main round of the prestigious competition. Omantel League champion Dhofar received a direct berth in the main round and is placed in Group C with Al Ansar of Lebanon, Al Wahda of Syria and Al Faisaly of Jordan.
