Germany’s Federal Agency for Public Safety Digital Radio (BDBOS) said it became an official member of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETST) in December 2017.

The BDBOS, a governmental agency subordinate to the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), is tasked with design and operation of a uniform digital voice and data radio system for all public safety and security agencies throughout Germany. The BDBOS said it plans to use its membership in the ETSI to represent and deliver demands from Germany’s security agencies, particularly in ETSI councils dealing with Tetra.
