PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Fog, rain and wind could create problems in Southern New England on this Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
A dense fog advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. and then a wind advisory goes into effect from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Meanwhile, heavy rain and thunderstorms could cause some minor flooding in urban areas and other areas with poor drainage, according to the National Weather Service.
The fog could drop visibility to a quarter mile or less, slowing the morning commute.
The wind will be the strongest this afternoon and early evening, gusting up to 50 mph and capable of knocking down weakened trees and knocking out power, the Weather Service says.
"A fast moving storm system will bring a period of heavy rain and perhaps even an isolated thunderstorm or two later this morning and into the afternoon along with strong winds across portions of" Eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island, the Weather Service says.
The Providence area could see one to two inches of rain. The thunderstorms are possible after 11 a.m. Expect a high temperature of 59 degrees in Providence.
After the storm moves away, the weather will turn cooler and blustery, the Weather Service says.
Wednesday looks mostly sunny with a high near 39 in Providence.
Thursday and Friday should both be sunny with highs near 30 and 32 respectively.
