A day after President Ram Nath Kovind gave his nod to the recommendation of the Election Commission (EC) to disqualify 20 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs on office of profit issue, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia wrote an open letter to the people of Delhi seeking justice for his party.
Attacking the Centre, Sisodia said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriewal’s growing popularity across the country has unnerved the Union Government and they are plotting to trouble Kejriwal.
Sisodia said charges based on the “office of profit” against these MLAs are “false” as they “were not given any Government vehicles, bungalows or salary”. They were working without getting any benefits with the passion to make a contribution to the development of the city,” he wrote. He alleged that the MLAs were disqualified to derail the good works being down by the AAP Government. “The BJP has put a “full stop” to the growth of Delhi by “imposing” elections for these 20 Vidhan Sabha seats. Public money would be “unnecessarily” wasted to conduct them”, the deputy Chief Minister wrote.
The BJP attacked the AAP over the letter and dared it to contest all the 70 seats in Delhi.
Delhi’s Bharatiya Janata Party chief Manoj Tiwari attacked Kejriwal over the open letter.
