Pat Shurmur has vacated his position as the Vikings’ offensive coordinator to become the Giants head coach.
The Giants made the announcement official on Monday.
Shurmur is largely credited for lifting a Vikings’ offense that saw Case Keenum produce the best season of his career.
As the Vikings moved on from a system centered around Adrian Peterson, Shurmur utilized a multifacted offense that gave receivers more freedom and took advantage of Keenum’s mobility.
Shurmur, a former Browns head coach, was brought on under Mike Zimmer as the tight ends coach. He replaced Norv Turner in November of 2016 as the offensive coordinator.
