Officials are looking for help from the public after a 45-year-old Bartow man was killed Sunday night in a hit and run in Auburndale.

AUBURNDALE — A 45-year-old Bartow man died late Sunday night when a motorist hit him along U.S. 92 in Auburndale and drove away.

Eduardo Sanchez, of Dietz Road east of Bartow, was walking near the westbound turn lane leading into International Market World, at 1052 U.S. 92 West, when he was struck about 11:30 p.m., according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver was traveling westbound when the crash occurred, reports state.

Sheriff Grady Judd is seeking the public’s help in identifying the driver.

“We're hoping someone saw something in the area at the time this man was killed,” he said. “No matter how insignificant you think something is, if you saw or heard something suspicious, please, please give us a call. Whoever killed this man needs to be identified and arrested.”
