ROCKFORD — The Rockford IceHogs will host their annual Pink in the Rink on Friday when the Ontario Reign come to the BMO Harris Bank Center for an AHL matchup.
And the ice will actually be pink.
The Pink in the Rink is to raise awareness and money to support breast cancer research. The Hogs have donated over $180,000 to breast cancer research since the first Pink in the Rink in 2010.
Rockford’s players will wear a replica of the uniforms worn by the original Rockford Peaches girls baseball team, helping the Peaches celebrate their 75th anniversary this year.
The jerseys will be made available through a blind-silent auction during the game, and a few will be up for online auction the following week. The proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit breast cancer research.
