Letter writer says Sen. Chuck Schumer’s statement that “the American people are on our side” is arrogant and a bit presumptuous.

The Democratic shutdown of the federal government is bad enough. Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer’s statement that “the American people are on our side” is arrogant and a bit presumptuous.

There is no, I repeat, no immediate deportation action regarding the DACA population. The president has said that Congress must come up with a solution to the problem, and he is correct. The DACA problem should not be the rationale for a government shutdown; this has been labeled “Schumer’s shutdown.” I call it “Schumer’s Folly.” Either way, it does the American people no good and should be halted before the world laughs at our government (or lack thereof).
