The British version of the hugely-successful app is the first time the quiz has expanded outside of the United States.
A version of the smartphone quiz gameshow quietly popped-up a few weeks ago, however, it was unclear whether this was a temporary experiment by the app makers, or a long-term commitment.
However, the creators of HQ Trivia have confirmed that the app is here to stay in the UK.
The main host of the UK version of the gameshow is Sharon Carpenter, who appears on the main game as a replacement for Scott “Quiz Daddy” Rogowsky.
Carpenter is a veteran broadcast journalist and has a number of impressive credits on her CV, including the likes of BBC World News America and Black Entertainment Television.
HQ TRIVIA
Players have to correctly answer 10 successive questions to share the prize money
The UK version of HQ Trivia follows a very similar format to the original US version of the game fronted by Rogowsky.
Players must correctly answer a set of questions in order to win a share of a real cash prize.
HQ Trivia gives players a panic-inducing 10 seconds to answer correctly. This is designed to make Googling the correct answer almost impossible.
That said, there are some key differences between the UK and US versions of the app.
Obviously, the former tends to favour questions around British topics, with the likes of Beckham and Corbyn more likely to surface than Oprah and Clinton.
The cash prize that is divided amongst the number of players who correctly answer all 10 questions tends to be smaller, too.
