Jones leads Blue Hawks at Missouri Valley Invite
MARSHALL, Mo. — For the second tournament in a row, Dickinson State sophomore wrestler Gresh Jones took first place in the 133-pound weight bracket. He received a bye in the opening round but won the next five rounds. He won the first by fall, the second by technical fall, the third by major decision and the next two by decision, earning his team 25.50 points towards their 8th place finish at the Missouri Valley Invitational.
Freshman Taner Stone placed seventh in the 157-pound bracket. He lost his first match by way of fall, but he won the following four, working his way through the consolation bracket to the 7th place match where he defeated Graceland University’s Drew Sams via fall.
Blue Hawk sophomore Jaime Mullins won his first two matches, bringing him to the 141-pound quarterfinal match which he lost 5-2. Mullins went on to lose his final match as well by a 16-10 decision.
