Joplin, Mo. -- (1/22/2018) A Mount Vernon man was pronounced dead early Sunday morning after he was ejected from his motorcycle.
57-year-old Richard Hernandez was traveling toward a roundabout at a high rate of speed when he struck a curb, lost control and was ejected. Hernandez was pronounced dead on the scene. Speed and alcohol were involved in the incident.
This is Joplin’s first fatality crash of 2018.
A second motorcyclist riding with Hernandez attempted to catch up to him to slow him down but crashed at the same location. The second motorcyclist had minor injuries.
