Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday inaugurated the newly built Rajiv Chowk and Signature Tower underpasses on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway. The underpasses are intended to improve existing junctions at Signature Tower and Rajiv Chowk in Gurugram.
Khattar also said the underpasses at Iffco Chowk and Hero Honda chowk will also be opened for commuters by this March.
The underpass at Rajiv Chowk can be used by commuters for crossing the expressway to go to the Sohna Road, while the Signature Tower underpass has also bring relief to commuters heading from Huda City Centre to Atul Kataria Chowk. The Signature Tower underpass will similarly ensure traffic flow from Atul Kataria Chowk to Huda City Centre. “The Iffco Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Signature Tower and Hero Honda Chowk are the four major junctions on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway. These two underpasses will surely provide a smooth ride to the residents of Gurugram. The work on the rest two underpasses are on full swing and will be operational by March,” PWD Minister, Rao Narbir Singh, said.
With the opening of the Rajiv Chowk underpass, people coming from Old Gurugram will be able to proceed towards Sohna road. Similarly, people coming from Sohna road will be able to reach the district court, Sohna Chowk and towards Sector-4, 5, 7 and Railway Station without being stuck in the traffic at the crossing.
Signature Tower, Rajiv Chowk and Iffco Chowk officials said the entire project is estimated to cost a total of Rs 1,005 crore. The much-awaited inauguration of these projects comes close on heels of the NHAI opening up several flyovers and underpasses at the Signature Tower, Rajiv Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, and the Iffco Chowk.
