Just weeks before the commencement of Mahamastakabhisheka Mahotsava-2018 in Shravanabelagola, Deputy Commissioner of Hassan district Rohini Sindhuri Dasari has been transferred.

A release on Monday said Ms. Dasari would be transferred with immediate effect as the Managing Director, Karnataka State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. in Bengaluru. In her place, M.V. Venkatesh, who was the Deputy Commissioner of Haveri district, has been appointed.

Over 40 lakh devotees are expected to the small town, which is getting a ₹75 crore makeover, including setting up of temporary accommodation.

Ms. Dasari assumed office as Deputy Commissioner of Hassan in July 2017. For the last few days, leaders of the Congress, including Minister for Sericulture A. Manju, who is in charge of Hassan, had put pressure on the Chief Minister for her transfer. During the Chief Minister’s visit to Hassan on January 5, the Congress leaders demanded her transfer. Differences between the Minister and the Deputy Commissioner began with the taking up of works related to Mahamastakabhisheka.

Meanwhile, M.V. Jayanthi has been posted as Chairman, Karnataka Appellate Tribunal, Bengaluru; V. Chaitra, as Commissioner, Labour Department; S.B. Shettannavar as Deputy Commissioner, Haveri district; K. Rajendra as Deputy Commissioner, Ramanagaram; B.R. Mamatha as Commissioner, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department.
