DAYTON, Ind. — Dayton Elementary School dismissed students early Monday morning after a power outage.
Parents either picked up their kids, or buses took the children home at 10:30 a.m.
"Duke Energy informed school officials it would be hours before electricity is restored to the building," according to a news release from the elementary school.
According to Duke Energy's website, the power outage was reported at 7:37 a.m. Monday and it won't be restored until 5:30 p.m.
"There is a piece of equipment underground that needs to be repaired," Duke Energy spokesman Ryan Mosier said in an email Monday. "It's only affecting Dayton Elementary."
Phone lines are currently down at the school. Parents can call the central office at 765-474-2481 for information.
