‘Seeking the opinion of intellectuals and senior journalists’

Jana Sena Party president and film star Pawan Kalyan has said that his party would play a constructive role in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and contest elections only from winning places.

“I will do only constructive politics and do not do any destructive politics. I don’t have such an idea of splitting votes with my party contesting polls. I supported the TDP in the 2014 elections for development of the new Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation,” he said.

He said he was seeking the opinion of intellectuals and senior journalists for strengthening his party.

Talking to newsmen here on Monday evening, he was all praise for Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and termed him a working and smart leader who had played a crucial role in the formation of the Telangana state.

To a query, he said “What is wrong if I meet the Telangana Chief Minister and convey him New Year greetings? I don’t want to keep any rift with anyone”. He said he was having friends in all political parties and would be meeting all of them.

Terming the “note-for-vote” case a crime and a sensitive issue, he said the two Telugu States, after bifurcation, had many challenges, dreams and promises to be fulfilled.

Telangana state had materialised after decades of agitation, and hence, he said, people should respect the government which was elected to power.
