A young man jumped into the Rani Pond here on Sunday evening, reasons for which are still unknown. While the whole city was cuddled up under a warm blanket, Captain Singh, on receiving the information, hurried to the pond and jumped into the freezing water to save the man's life.
After a few attempts the man was pulled out of the water, but the man is believed to be in a critical condition.
The police rushed the man to a government hospital where they were informed by the doctors that the man may not survive.
According to sources, police was informed about the incident about half an hour after the man had jumped. Bystanders praised the move of the DSP.
While expressing his sadness, DSP said, "I and my colleagues tried our best to save the man, but if the youth does not survive, then we will regret it. Personal details of the man are not known and the reason for the jump has also not been ascertained yet."
