Overwatch update: NEW skins revealed for Legendary, Epic cosmetic loot boxes

OVERWATCH developer Blizzard is gearing up to release a major cosmetic update on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Overwatch is getting new Legendary and Epic Skins

developer Blizzard has revealed new skins ahead of this week's cosmetic update.

The new Overwatch update will add more than 100 new items on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

This includes new Epic and Legendary skins, player icons, emotes and sprays.

These new items will be available in standard Loot boxes, and can also be purchased by spending cash in the Hero Gallery.

"We're expanding our core cosmetics collection to include over 100 new items - including skins, sprays, player icons, emotes, and more - for all 26 heroes," reads a Blizzard blog post.

"And, starting January 23, you’ll be able to earn these cosmetics in standard Loot Boxes as well as unlock them via the Hero Gallery all year round."

In the build up to the new release, Blizzard has revealed more Legendary and Epic skins, which can be seen in the first seven slides of the gallery below...

The cosmetic update launches alongside the brand new Blizzard World Map.

The brand new Blizzard World arena is a brand new hybrid map that supports Assault and Escort game modes.

The theme park-style map pays homage to multiple Blizzard franchises, including StarCraft, Warcraft and Diablo.

"An amusement park celebrating the universes of Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo, Blizzard World is a brand-new hybrid Assault/Escort map," Blizzard explains.

"Charge the gates of Stormwind, sneak through the Nexus Experience, and guide the payload through areas filled with high ground, flanking routes, and environmental hazards.

"Grab some Blizzard-inspired snacks at the concession stand along the way!"

And speaking of new maps, Overwatch developer Blizzard has expressed an interest in a fan-made map.

Overwatch fan Joshua Llorente recently posted a video of a map he designed using Unreal Engine 4.

Set in Cairo, the impressive Payload map really does look like something you'd find in Overwatch.

It's so good that Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan commented on a Reddit post dedicated to the fan-made map.

"Amazing work!" Kaplan said. "We'll be in touch."
