Several local wrestlers competed at this weekend's annual Paul Post Invitational tournament at Sallisaw.

Two of them captured individual championships in their respective weight classes.

Sallisaw junior Kaleb Harris won the 113-pound title, defeating Cushing's Brandon Anderson in the finals by a 7-1 decision.

Also winning first place was Van Buren senior Tyler Thacker at 195. Thacker posted a 9-5 decision against Marche Ashford of Cascia Hall in the championship match.

Other local wrestlers also finished in second place at Saturday's finals.

Southside senior Thai Ta was the runner-up in the 106 class, as Cascia Hall's Eli Griffin took first place on a fall at 1:25.

In the 120 class, Van Buren junior Mason Hayes finished second to Blayton Montgomery (Duncan, Okla.), who won a 9-0 major decision.

Sallisaw junior Hunter Williams made the finals in the 126 class before being edged, 14-13, by Marlow's Anthony Orum.

Van Buren junior Christian Carney was the runner-up at 145 to Cushing's Jacob Ahrberg, who posted a technical fall in 3:58.

Also, Sallisaw junior Walter Soto was second in the 220 class, as he was defeated by Dan Baker (Sulphur, Okla.), who won on a fall at 50 seconds.

Northside's Alec Phetchrean came in sixth at 132, while another Grizzly wrestler, Sutton Eddins, was sixth at 113.

Southside's Brayden Bird was fourth at 160. Preston Halley was sixth at 152, and another Southside wrestler, Joseph Williams, was sixth at 220.

Van Buren's Walter Green came in fourth at 152, and Devin Swearingen was sixth at 160.

Sallisaw's Matt Peters placed fifth in the 285 class.

Duncan took first place in the overall team standings with 197 points, followed by Marlow with 193.5 points.

Van Buren came in eighth place with 116 points, with Sallisaw ninth at 104.5. Southside was 10th with 79 points, and Northside placed 12th with 44.5 points.
