A Lebanon man was charged after fleeing police first in his vehicle and then on foot, leaving a 1-year-old girl behind in the vehicle.

Police saw Angel Vicente, 24, Lebanon, driving his vehicle with the right turn signal on while on Walnut Street, passing through the intersection at 18th Street and continuing westbound with its signal on, North Cornwall police said.

The vehicle's driver-side tires were on or over the double yellow line as it continued westbound, and it began accelerating rapidly until police stopped it as it entered a parking lot at Highland Glen, 120 Highland Glen St.

Vicente left the vehicle, which had a 1-year-old girl inside, and ran with police still in pursuit. Vicente was apprehended in the area of the Highland Glen apartment building and transported to central booking. The girl was returned to her mother, according to police.

Police said Vicente ran because he is on probation. He now faces charges of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest, reckless driving, DUI-related driver's license suspended or revoked, disregard of traffic lane, improper child restraint and driving at a safe speed.
