The Resident's Conrad Hawkins (Matt Czuchry) and Chief of Surgery Randolph Bell (Bruce Greenwood) already had a tete-a-tete in the show's series premiere over a groundbreaking surgery, now they're butting heads again over a heart transplant.
Bell is bumping his VIP patient to the top of the donor list, preventing Conrad's 28-year old athletic science teacher from getting the heart he was promised even though Bell's patient is 40 years older and still smokes. It's a battle of money and privilege over providing the best care for all patients at the hospital, a theme that will recur throughout the first season of the show.

Conrad makes some extremely good points in TV Guide's exclusive clip, but at the end of the day Bell is the Chief of Surgery and he gets to make the call. Will Conrad finally be able to outsmart his boss or is Bell going to save the hospital's big donor over Conrad's patient?
The Resident two-night premiere event continues Monday, Jan. 22 at 9/8c on Fox.
