In 2015, Gov. Dannel Malloy attempted to reduce the $60 per month stipend to $50 for nursing home residents. This was defeated by the legislators. The state is attempting to do it again, and it must be defeated.
The monthly stipend is used for such things as clothing, shoes, haircuts, cosmetics etc. People in this category include mothers, teachers, policemen and others who have signed over their assets to be regulated by the state. How would you like to be in their shoes? Put on those shoes, if you have them and try affording them with the current $60. Please help defeat this ridiculous reduction by contacting the governor and legislators to urge them not only to defeat this proposal but to increase the stipend to $72 or more so nursing home residents can have a more reasonable life. Pendleton residents are preparing a petition to stop Malloy’s unreasonable change to the stipend.
