Foggy, slow morning commute won’t last as temperatures rise

Environment Canada warned of near-zero visibility due to fog in a special weather statement released Sunday night.

Toronto commuters may feel as though they’re driving through Brigadoon early Monday morning – but the fog isn’t expected to last.

Environment Canada warned of near-zero visibility due to fog in a special weather statement released Sunday night, and said “dense fog patches” are expected to linger into Monday morning.

It is, however, expected to disperse before noon.

But as we lose the fog, commuters may have another challenge. A chance of freezing rain – and a daytime high of 2 C – might make for slippery driving.

Temperatures will rise further into Tuesday, with an expected high of 5 C. A 40 per cent chance of showers may impact an ability to enjoy it though. The mercury will fall after that to a high of -4 C on Wednesday, -5 C on Thursday and 1 C on Friday. Environment Canada expects them to bump back up next weekend but the weather weather is expected to come with it.
