Jan. 22 Middletown Township Historical Society’s award-winning lecture series CHESTER’S ROLE DURING WORLD WAR I by J. Joseph Edgette, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus and Folklorist Emeritus, Widener University. The Great War was proclaimed as the war to end all wars. Though it was fought in Europe, first world war ancillary activities were very much in evidence in cities, towns, and hamlets throughout the United States to aide and support our Allies abroad. Each had something to offer to the War effort with Chester, Pennsylvania among many of those offering a lion’s share of generosity, contributory, and supportive involvement. Besides shipbuilding from the capital of the shipbuilding industry of the U.S., Chester was a supplier of arms, ammunition, other war-related materials and services in addition to its most precious commodity, men and women to serve in the armed forces. This richly illustrated presentation will provide a descriptive narrative and discussion of the significant role Chester played during the war to end all wars. Lectures begin at 7:00 p.m. at Lima Estates, 411 North Middletown Road, Media, PA 19063. They are free and open to the public with no registration required.

Things to Stock Up for the Big Game

Wings to help those Eagles ....Fly Eagles Fly

Green Garb anything green goes but if it has an Eagle emblem on it all the better. Get your green on Now.

Philly Cheese Steak Why? Yo! it Philly baby.

Beer I don't drink it but if you are 21 and some one else is driving, you can have "a" beer.

Carvel ice cream makes a "football" ice cream cake but the official ice cream of the Philadelphia Eagles is Turkey Hill.

Anything green that graces the table is healthy, veggies and fruit are fine selections.

Tastykake it's another Philly thing, a little high in calories but if you share it's ok and they do make mini's now.

Hoagies are a hit at any party. You can get a variety, there is something for everyone. Hots on the side if you hafta.

Soft pretzels, calmly smother it in mustard, sit down relax and watch the rest of the game, it's all good.

The most important thing we can all bring to the table is the "Power of Positive Thinking". On Sunday think GREEN and Fly Eagles Fly.

Look for my suggested Green Songs playlist on Friday.

These recommendations surely do not apply to season ticket holders and the tailgate regime, they are in a league all their own and far surpass my expertise as a lowly stay at home watch 'em on television, but I am with you my brothers and sisters. Philly Strong 🦅
