Mindfulness seminar planned
Mental health counselor Tenisa Montgomery, of Mother Nurture Counseling Solutions in Orlando, will lead a Mindfulness Training Seminar at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Deltona Regional Library, 2150 Eustace Ave.
Mindfulness is described as "a state of active, open attention on the present. ... (M)indfulness means living in the moment and awakening to your current experience rather than dwelling on the past or anticipating the future."

Program to stress organizing
Learn how to get organized at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at the DeLand Regional Library, 130 E. Howry Ave. Lisa Hamilton, a family and consumer sciences agent with the University of Florida/Volusia County Extension, will discuss how to declutter, where to store important documents and how to develop a clear-the-clutter strategy. Documentary on eldercare for LBGT seniors to be shown
“Gen Silent,” a documentary about LGBT seniors and the discrimination they may face in the eldercare system will be shown 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at the United Church of Christ of New Smyrna Beach, 203 Washington St. Following the movie, there will be a potluck dinner and discussion in Community Hall.
The critically-acclaimed 2011 documentary explores the lives of LGBT seniors who fought the first battles for equality and are retreating to the closest to survive discrimination, bullying and abuse.

Hospice orientation offered
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer at Florida HospiceCare is invited to attend "Hospice 101," a prospective volunteer session, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Florida Hospital Flagler, 60 Memorial Medical Parkway, Classroom D, Palm Coast.
Volunteers must: be at least 18 years old, complete an application and background check screening process, attend 15 hours of training, and have a comfort level in working with terminally ill patients and their families. The session will provide an overview of hospice services, volunteer opportunities, the application process and training requirements.
