The tide pod challenge has created a buzz on the internet and it spread like a wildfire. It is one of the most foolish and dangerous internet challenges raising health concerns. Teens have posted videos on social media eating or biting into laundry pods. One of the videos shows a teen pouring the liquid detergent in the pod into his mouth while in another video, the kid placed laundry pods on a pizza. Google and Facebook are trying to remove or block the posts. Here is a list of other social media challenges that can land your kid in a hospital.

1. Cinnamon challenge

This is a dangerous challenge, which needs a person to take a spoonful of powdered cinnamon and swallow it in 60 seconds without drinking any water. It can lead to respiratory and throat issues as the spice is caustic. A person can accidentally inhale the powdered cinnamon, which can cause the lung to collapse or choking. In 2015, a kid died due to choking after he attempted this challenge.

2. Salt and ice

Salt lowers the melting point of ice, which means ice will start melting at below 0 degrees temperature. The ice melts but the temperature remains sub-zero. In the salt and ice challenge, people would put salt on their arms and place an ice on it. This can cause third-degree burns and frostbite as the temperature of the water from melting of the ice is still the same as the ice.

3. Eraser challenge

Another crazy challenge is the eraser challenge. It became popular when kids started landing in hospitals after doing it. The challenge involves saying alphabets and saying a word for each alphabet while erasing your skin. It is painful and the constant erasing causes the skin to break and lead to bleeding.

4. Condom snorting

In this mindless challenge, a person snorts a condom until it reaches your throat and pulls it out of the mouth. It is one of the most dangerous challenges as it can lead to choking and death.

5. Duct tape challenge

Duct tape challenge caused serious head injuries to a 14-year-old boy, Skylar Fish. The challenge involves taping a person to a pole using duct tape. The hands are also taped. Skyler tried to break free and fell, hitting his head on the concrete. His eye socket crushed and it lead to a brain aneurysm. He was left with 48 stitches on his head.

These challenges are crazy and parents should keep a check on the online activities of their kids to avoid them from harming themselves.
