After a lot of controversy and protests, Ranveer Singh – Deepika Padukone – Shahid Kapoor‘s Padmaavat is finally set to release this week. And while there has been a lot of back and forth on the film’s release, it was finally announced that the movie will release on January 25. However, there is a new development that has taken place and we have all the dope! Padmaavat will now officially release in theatres on January 24, but with conditions applied! Not everyone will be able to see the film and we know why.
Apparently, Padmaavat is set to release only in 3D and Imax 3D on January 24 (Wednesday). This is because the other 2D films will play in theatres till January 25 and the makers wanted to have only a few, limited paid previews on January 24. Apart from that, the team wanted the first batch of people to experience the film on a large 3D canvas and rave about it and we totally think it is a smart decision. With very few 3D and Imax 3D theatres across India, only a few people in selected areas will be able to see the film on January 24. We even checked out movie tickets on an online ticketing platform to confirm this piece of information and it’s true. Tickets of only the 3D and Imax 3D versions are available on January 24, while the 2D version tickets are available for January 25. Anyway, how excited are you for the film? In the meantime, the protest against Padmaavat continues with Rajput women threatening to commit jauhar (self immolation) if the film is allowed to release. The Rajputs and the Karni Sena have been opposing the film as they feel the film will not uphold the values and ideals of their clan and will show their queen, Rani Padmavati, in a bad light. With the protests intensifying, stay tuned to BollywoodLife as we get you all the dope and updates about Padmaavat right here.
