Weekend high schools: Double-doubles lead Hampshire girls basketball past Drury

Double-doubles form Katylen Pickunka and Caroline O’Connor led the Hampshire Regional girls basketball team to a to a 69-55 win over Drury on Saturday at Hoosac Valley.

Both grabbed 14 rebounds, while Pickunka scored 30 points and O’Connor had 16. It was Pickunka’s fourth 30-point game this season.

Maggie Rubeck hit two 3s and had 12 for the Raiders (11-1).

Granby 47, Mount Greylock 31 — Kaeleigh Croteu hit three 3s and scored 13 points to lead the Rams to a win Saturday.

Nora Young added 12, and Mallory Beauregard had 11 for Granby (6-4)

Hopkins Academy 56, Mohawk 47 — Samantha Jenks scored 30 points, and the Golden Hakws won Saturday. She made 11 free throws and three 3s.

Thea Hanscom added 11 for Hopkins (4-7).

Boys basketball

Hopkins Academy 90, Mohawk 21 — Justin Ciaglo hit four 3s and scored 20 points in a win Saturday.

Jon Morrison added 12 points, while John Earle and Andrew Ciagelo each had 11 for Hopkins (9-1).

Ice hockey

Agawam 7, Amherst 1 — Jake Riel scored for the Hurricanes in a loss Saturday.

Jayden Blackburn and Nico Cardaropoli added assists for Amherst (3-2-3).

Greenfield 6, Chicopee Comp 2 — Frontier’s Doug Hanieski tallied four points on three assists and a goal for the Green Wave on Saturday in a win, and fellow Red Hawk Bryan Baumann chipped in two goals and an assist. Smith Academy student Evan Simmons had a goal and an assist. Frontier’s Ethan Lafleur added an assist.

Nordic Skiing

Luke Sedor Protti and Willy Wright placed in the top 10 to lead the Amherst boys team to a third-place finish Saturday. Sedor Protti was fifth in 23 minutes, 2 seconds, while Wright took sixth in 23:08. Ethan Saxenian (26:48) and Lucas McCallum (27:07) rounded out Amherst’s scoring in 21st and 22nd, respectively. Amherst scored 54 points, while Mount Greylock won with 15.

Amherst was fourth on the girls side with 79 points. Greylock also won the girls meet with 10.

Stella Wenczel paced Amherst’s girls team in 10th at 30:06. Callaghan Pittman took 19th (33:39), while Augusta Fricke (35:31) was 24th and Catherine Larson (36:03) 26th.
