Top Maoist arrested, two manage to flee

Ramkanda police have arrested hardcore Maoist ultra Basant Singh Khawar, who had came to collect levy money from the staff of a building construction company near Baligarh-Khuthuwa More under Ranka police station of the district, on Saturday. Police also recovered one .315 bore rifle and three bullets, one double barrel gun, one bullet, Pithoo and other materials related to Naxal activities while his two other associates managed to escape. According to SP Mohammed Arshi Basant Singh is a resident of Baradiha village under Ranka police station.

After received secret information about Basant a police team of Ramkanda police led by OC Prakash Rajak raided the spot and arrested to the Maoist while his two others associates managed to escaped, the SP said. Both the Maoists left arms and bullets on the spot. Basant Singh had been involved in  several cases under Ramgarh and Chainpur police station area of Palamu and also at Ramkunda, Chiniyan and Ranka Police station area in Garhwa. He has been involved in Naxal activities nearly from eight years and was the active of member of Maoist commander Vimal Ji gruop.
