A 50-year-old man and an 18-year-old girl committed suicide in separate incidents in Tirumullaivoyal on Saturday.

In the first incident, K Ravi, a daily wage labourer, is said to be addicted to liquor and often quarreled with his wife Ponnammal.
On Saturday night, he hanged self from a tree behind the house on Karpaga Vinayagar Street. Ponnammal noticed it and informed police, who shifted the body to the Kilpauk Medical College (KMC) Hospital for post-mortem.
In another case, an 18-year old Jennifer hanged self at her house as she couldn’t not focus on her studies. While her parents Adam and Rabbi Celia were daily wage earners, Jennifer was studying B Com first year in a private college. After her parents left for work on Saturday, she took the extreme step. Her parents were shocked to see her hanging when they returned from work. Her body was retrieved and sent for post-mortem. Tirumullaivoyal police have registered two separate cases. Further investigation is on.
