Two minors killed in Bomb explosion, three others injured

Imphal, January 01 2018:
At least two minors were killed and three other were seriously injured in a powerful IED blast at Leisok village, Subunglong Part I under Khoupum police station, Noney today morning.
The bodies of the dead minors have been deposited at JNIMS morgue for necessary post mortem while the three other injured minors are undergoing treatment at RIMS hospital.
One of them, a two year old girl, is said to be in a critical condition.
According to the locals and family members of the injured victims present at RIMS hospital, the incident occurred at Leisok village, which is located between Taosang and L Khunou village along Bishnupur Khoupum road, at around 9.45 am, when most of the village elders were holding prayers by visiting different houses in the village.
The blast occurred at the backyard of one Ngamtat Kamei of the village, when the victims unknowingly handled the explosive device.
The villagers also stated that it is not clear from where the minors found the explosive device before the incident happened.
One of the minors, Shahatngam Kamei (9) s/o (L) Ringlungpou of Leisok, who reportedly handled the explosive device, died on the spot when the explosion occurred while four other sustained injuries (including the two year old girl) .
Soon after the incident, a medical team of Khoupum Primary Health Centre and a team of police arrived on the spot and gave treatment to the injured minors before they were rushed to Imphal in a Khoupum PHC ambulance.
One of the injured minor, Silas Kamei (5) s/o Khuaithaolung Kamei of Subunglong Part I, who sustained head injuries caused by the splinters from the blast, was declared brought dead by the doctors at RIMS hospital.
The minors undergoing treatment at RIMS have been identified as Gailianshui Gonmei (9) s/o Kakinthai, Guilianei Kamei (4) d/o Thaomai of Leisok and Zaojainthuliu Kamei (2) d/o Gaijani Kamei of Subunglong Part I.Gailianshui Gonmei sustained head injuries and Guilianei Kamei sustained injuries on her thighs, waist and both her Jegs.
Zaojainthuliu Kamei sustained injuries to her head and waist due to the blast.
Khoupum police station have registered a case regarding the incident.
