Night of classical music and Bharatnatyam at Tribal Museum

The Bhopalites were enthralled by witnessing a marvelous evening of classical performances. A blend of Sufi music and Punjabi folk music was presented in city which was an amazing musical performance to watch.

Later, a Bharatnatyam dance was beautifully presented on stage leaving the audience enthralled. Both the events were held at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum under its regular series of classical performances ‘Uttaradhikar’ here on Friday.

The evening began with the musical performance by Lachi Bawa and Glory Bawa from Amritsar. The Ustad Bismillah Khan Youth Award awardees received a warm welcome from Bhopalites as this was their first ever performance in Bhopal.

The duo received the education of folk singing from his mother, Gurmeet Bawa. Both are associated with A grade in AIR category and in Doordarshan. Many of the presentations have been given by both of them on various cultural forums in India and abroad.

The second performance was all about an excellent blend of sensuous movements and graceful footwork with absolute control on rhythm. The magic of classical dance was recreated on stage by Gayatri Iyer and Prachi Majumdar Chouksey with their Bharatnatyam performance.

Both the dancers are disciples of Manju Hatwalne. They performed with their troupe at tribal museum. Prachi and Gayatri are known for their flawless movements and wondrous expressions. Their performances always manage to captivate the attention of the audience as they watch every move of theirs with rapt attention. 

The troupe began the performance with Ganesh Stuti. Later, they performed 'Mayur Alarippu'. After this the troupe gave a performance dedicated to Goddess Durga ‘Aadi Shakti’. This performance was like an icing on the cake which made the entire show a delightful one.

Later, the troupe performed 'Kartanam', 'Jatiswaram', 'Padam', 'Mahakali Varnam' dedicated to Shakti Durga ', ‘Shiva Chitra’, dedicated to Shivaputra Kartikeya and wrapped up with ‘Madhurashakam’
