Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday said there was no demonstration in front of the party President's political office but it was a jubilant procession.
Quader at his secretariat office came up with the remark after newspapers on Sunday reported that leaders deprived of posts in the leaked sub-committees staged a demonstration at the Dhanmondi office.
Meanwhile, in the evening about three hundred deprived leaders gathered at the party President's office but no untoward incidents happened.
They shouted slogans and talked to the central leaders including Organizing Secretary AKM Enamul Haque Shamim and Relief Affairs Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi.
Quader while briefing reporters said: "It was just a misunderstanding about the leaked sub-committees of the party."
"The question is inclusion of assistant secretaries to the sub-committees. Earlier, a few sub-committees were formed but now all the sub-committees will be formed," he assured.
There will be no assistant secretaries. All will be the members of the sub-committees, he said.
About his confinement in the party President's Dhanmondi office on Saturday, Quader expressed his resentment over the reports published on newspapers.
"It was never a confinement in the office rather I was busy with my prayer and the door was closed but it was reported wrongly to the media and that hurt me," he said.
About shouting slogan by demonstrators outside the party office, Quader said there was no demonstration outside the office rather it was a joyous procession there.
"When deprived leaders came to the office with clear  evidence I assured them that the committees would be finalized after verification. They were pleased and brought a joyous procession outside the office," Quader said.
"According to the tradition, the final committee needs approval from the party President before it, undersigned by the party General Secretary, is published to the media.
But this time the rule was violated and proposed sub-committee lists were leaked when the office sent it to the secretary concerned for further verification," he said.
About BNP's demand for an election framework, the General Secretary said: "The Prime Minister will not do it. It's the job of BNP to provide the framework. We are waiting for it."
It is BNP's right to take part in the election and AL has nothing to do in this regard.
Remarks of BNP leaders about the Election Commission (EC) are such that the EC is not neutral but the EC conducted Rangpur City Corporation polls in a neutral manner, he noted.
Quader said the government would extend its cooperation to the EC to hold the polls neutrally.
There is no necessity to hold any dialogue with BNP on the election issue, he added.
Asked whether there is any scope for keeping BNP representatives in the election-time government, he said BNP was invited to join the election-time government during the previous national election as they had representation in parliament but they did not respond.
