The issue of Jheeram massacre has once again triggered a verbal spat between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the main opposition Congress on Sunday.

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Bhupesh Baghel has demanded through a tweet that it must come to light after all what  conspiracy was behind the Jheeram massacre that killed several senior party leaders in a Naxal attack on May 25, 2013.

Baghel reiterated that the country’s premier investigating agency CBI should be allowed to probe into the matter as the people have all right to know who was behind the deadly killings.

Baghel’s tweet appeared in response to Dinesh Kashyap, BJP MP from Bastar Lok Sabha seat, who alleged in a press conference at Jagdalpur town on Saturday and raised questions about the newly appointed Deputy Leader of Opposition and Congress leader Kawasi Lakhma’s alleged involvement in the massacre.

Kashyap said that the Konta MLA Lakhma was seen speaking to someone confidentially in local ‘Gondi’ dialect right after the incident. He further said that Lakhma’s role was Rs very suspicious’.

Replying to the allegations of BJP leader, Baghel in a tweet charged that “BJP government was involved in the case completely that’s why it is hesitating to set up a CBI enquiry into the matter”.

Cong has also sought explanation from the BJP Govt on alleged withdrawal of security personnel who were assigned to escort Congress convoy which came under Maoists’ ambush at Jheeram.
