The 20-year-old is impressing on loan with League One promotion hopefuls Shrewsbury but is unlikely to have a long-term future at Old Trafford.
Villa already have United stopper Sam Johnstone on a season-long loan but face a challenge to seal his signature on a permanent basis.
Steve Bruce is on the hunt for a new No 1 ahead of next term and sent scout Tony Coton to watch Henderson in action last week, according to The Sun on Sunday.
Coton, a former keeper, sent back a glowing report to Bruce.
Henderson has entered the final six months of his contract and is attracting plenty of interest.
