Host Cambridge High continued to roll along on Saturday with a lopsided 61-37 victory over Marietta in East Central Ohio League action inside Gene Ford Gymnasium.
A huge 23-3 scoring edge in the second stanza put the Lady Bobcats in control with a 39-9 halftime advantage. With the home court victory Cambridge improves to 12-1 overall and 9-1 in ECOL play.
Senior standout Lilly Ritz, who last week became CHS’s girls basketball career scoring leader led the way with a game-high 19 points, while freshman Taylar Slaughter 13 markers including a trio of three-pointers. Sophomore Khloe Taylor also knocked down three ‘treys’ to finish with 11 points and senior Charlie Endly added seven.
Hannah Croft paced the Lady Tigers (3-12, 3-7 ECOL) with 11 points and Natalie Brooks chipped in with 10.

Caldwell 49, St. John’s 47
BELLAIRE —Visiting Caldwell High used a big fourth quarter to rally back and escape with a 49-47 victory over St. John’s Central in girls’ basketball action on Saturday.
The Lady Redskins trailed 36-31 entering the pivotal fourth quarter, but outscored the Lady Fighting Irish, 18-11 in the final eight minutes to pick up the non-league victory.
Freshman dandy Cayton Secrest paced Caldwell (5-8) with 16 points including a trio of three-pointers, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals, while Julia Griffith knocked down a "trey" and added nine points in the victory. Mariah Ackley followed close behind with eight counters and four blocks and Kelsey Zwick chipped in with seven.
For St. John’s, Kaylis Nixon and Brooke Palmer made for a nice one-two punch as Nixon drained five shots from behind the arc leading to a game-high 28 points while Palmer added 13 points.
NEXT — Caldwell will host its Pioneer Valley Conference rival, Shenandoah High on Monday with JV action beginning at 6 p.m.
Buckeye Trail 53, Newcomerstown 21
OLD WASHINGTON — Buckeye Trail had little trouble with visiting Newcomerstown High on Saturday with a 53-21 victory in Inter-Valley Conference girls basketball action.
The Lady Warriors quickly grabbed the upper hand with a 16-6 lead after the first period. Trail put the game away with a 17-3 second stanza scoring edge to lead 33-9 at the halftime break.
Senior Jenni Carmichael paced the Lady Warriors’ attack with 14 points and eight rebounds, with sophomore Sam Canner chipping in with 10 points and five rebounds. Senior Hannah Smith just missed double figures with eight markers, while freshman Ashleigh Wheeler tallied seven and senior Amber Colvin knocked down a pair of ‘treys’ for six points.
Newcomerstown (1-12) was led in scoring by freshman Taylor Lafferty and senior Brea Garretson with six points each.
NEXT — Both teams return to the court on Wednesday with Buckeye Trail visiting Indian Valley, while Newcomerstown will host Hiland.
Dover 68, Meadowbrook 40
BYESVILLE — Host Meadowbrook suffered a 68-40 setback at the hands of Dover High in East Central Ohio League girls’ basketball action Saturday.
The Lady Tornadoes dominated from start to finish and built up a convincing 42-16 halftime advantage. Dover’s Jordyn Kiser tallied 12 third-quarter points and helped her squad pick up the ECOL victory.
Kiser finished as the game-high scorer for Dover (9-6) with 26 points followed by Samantha Blair with 14 and Alana Belknap and Jada Weston with 11 each.
For the Lady Colts (5-9), Camy Wiggins tallied a team-best 16 points while Avery Poland added eight and Hailey DeVolld chipped in with seven.
NEXT — Meadowbrook will be back in action on Monday at Barnesville for a 6 p.m. start.
Union Local 57, Barnesville 53
MORRISTOWN — A huge fourth quarter rally lifted host Union Local past Barnesville High by a 57-53 final score on Saturday afternoon.
Entering the fourth period, the Lady ‘Rocks held a 49-42 lead, but the Lady Jets roared back for the win with a 17-4 scoring edge in the final frame.
Union Local placed four players in double figures led by Hailey Porter with 15 points, followed by Casey Kildow with 14, Allison Loase with 11 and Hannah Porter with 10.
Barnesville (5-9) got a monster effort from senior Dulcie Christman with a game-high 29 points along with 16 rebounds in a losing effort. Sarah Powell chipped in with 12 points and 10 assists for the Lady ‘Rocks and Abby Starr finished with eight markers.
NEXT — Barnesville will host Meadowbrook on Monday at 6 p.m. with JV action.
John Glenn 36, Philo 29
DUNCAN FALLS —John Glenn took an Muskingum Valley League road trip on Saturday and returned home with a 36-29 victory over Philo High.
Leading the Lady Muskie effort was the duo of Madison Hunter with 14 points and Lyndi Slack with 11 markers for the winners. Just missing double figures for JG was Bailey Johnson who finished with eight points.
Destiny Hutcheson tallied 11 points to lead the Lady Electrics, while Bethany Colling contributed double figure support with 10.
