Al Tber 1 crowned DWPR champs

Dubai: Al Tber 1 was crowned as a champion of the Dubai Wooden Powerboat Race (DWPR) – the third round of the UAE Championship - organized by the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) under the marine sports season 2017-18, which commenced on Saturday at the club.

“We witnessed a huge success of the race which gathers around 17 participants with the race track of 31 nautical miles in Al Sofouh Beach located between the Crescent of Palm Jumeirah and the iconic Burj Al Arab.

“It was an exciting race among the racer’s as they struggle hard to finish the 6 laps in addition to the 5 nautical miles race distance this time.

The “Al Tber 1” boat no. 01 led by Juma Saif Sultan Al Muhairi and Ahmed Ali Jabir Al Hamli crowned as champion of the race against the rival boat no. 17 Raheeb 4 which also came as second last time.

Going up on the third spot was Al Noubi Racing’s boat no. 06 against the boat no. 03 of Sea Shuttle. And last but not the least is boat no. 12 of Al Taber 2.

The award ceremony was held right after the race in DIMC podium in the presence of Ali Nasser Belhabala, the DIMC Vice Chairman and Mohammad Harib, the CEO and Board Member of DIMC with Mohammed Abdulla Al Shamsi , the Director of Admin Corporate Support in DIMC with Lt. Col Ali Abdullah Naqbi, the Head of Maritime Rescue Department of Dubai Police.
