Raceland man faces multiple drug charges

A Raceland man was arrested Wednesday after deputies found three grams of crack cocaine, 14 ounces of marijuana and three marijuana cigarettes inside his vehicle, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies also found a handgun, eight hydrocodone pills, a bottle of codeine and drug paraphernalia, Sheriff Craig Webre said in a news release.

The driver, Demarcus Sylvester, 25, 448 St. Philip St., is charged with carrying a weapon in the presence of controlled dangerous substances; possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, hydrocodone and marijuana; possession of codeine and drug paraphernalia; and illegal parking.

He remains in the parish jail on a $47,850 bond.
