New Delhi, Jan 21: A day after massive fire at North Delhi’s Bawana firecracker factory claimed 17 lives, Health Minister Satyendar Jain assured strict action against the culprits. Calling it a serious offence, Jain said,”We have formed a committee to look into the matter. People showed us wrappers of firecrackers, I do not think anyone has a licence to manufacture firecrackers in Delhi.

“If this indeed was a cracker factory, it’s wrong that an illegal factory was being run. Strict action will be taken after we receive report and it does not matter if the culprit is a private owner or a government official,” the Delhi Minister who accompanied Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal at BR Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini said.

Anil Baijal and Satyendar Jain today met families of those killed in the Bawana factory fire at BR Ambedkar Hospital.

Earlier in the day,  a video of NDMC mayor and BJP leader Preeti Aggarwal was surfaced on social media in which she was seen cautioning the officials from speaking against the factory as it was registered with them. Aggarwal, who visited the spot to take stock of the situation, was heard telling officials, “Is factory ki license humare paas hai, isliye kuch nai bolna. (The license of this factory is with us, so we should not speak against it.)

However, she clarified her statement later in the day and said that the video was fake. Demanding an apology from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Aggarwal said,”I only made some inquiry about the place from my co-workers and I meant we shouldn’t say anything about such unfortunate incident at this time. The worst part amidst this entire painful incident is that a fabricated video has been made viral. I expect Arvind Kejriwal to apoligise to me for spreading this lie.”

On Saturday, 17 people, including 10 women were killed and several others injured in a tragic fire accident that took place at a firecracker factory in sector 5 of Bawana industrial area in Delhi. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had also said that it will be probed how licence was given to the establishment and who gave it and also how the incident happened.
