The Golden Globes set an electric tone for awards season, with protests aplenty and Oprah Winfrey maybe kicking off a presidential bid. So what will happen when the trophies are handed out on Sunday night's 24th Screen Actors Guild Awards?

Kristen Bell will be the first host in SAG Awards history when the event airs live from Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles on TNT and TBS (8 ET/5 PT). Coming off a quartet of Golden Globe wins, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri leads the movie field with four nominations, including best cast, actress (Frances McDormand) and supporting actor (Sam Rockwell and Woody Harrelson). In the TV categories, HBO's Big Little Lies and Netflix's Stranger Things and GLOW each have four nominations, and Morgan Freeman is on tap to receive this year's life-achievement award.

In preshow awards, Wonder Woman won best stunt ensemble for a movie while HBO's Game of Thrones received the honor for stunt ensemble in a TV show.

MORE: The winners

Come back for a minute-by-minute breakdown when the show begins.

8:03: Host Kristen Bell calls herself "the first lady" — since she's the first host. She calls out the cast of Get Out, a "walking reminder that if you say yes to the Tea Party, you're automatically on the way to the Sunken Place." She admits that everyone's story needs to be told, even "the sea monster" of The Shape of Water, and gets serious when talking about the issues of teh day: "Fear and anger never win the race."

8:00: This year's "I'm an actor" opening is a little bit different (and timely), featuring only women. Allison Janney talks about dreaming of becoming a figure skater and her first role being the undertaker's son in Oliver! Tracee Ellis Ross discusses having "a lot of shoes" as well as using her voice for justice. Millie Bobbie Brown tells young girls to "believe in yourself and follow your hearts," and Kristen Bell jokes about being a "narcissist" and growing up wanting to sing Disney songs.
