The top 20 clubs in Europe by operating profit (financial year 2016)

“Chelsea and Liverpool are conspicuous by their absence”
UEFA have released their annual report into club finances, called “The European Club Footballing Landscape”, and it is full of fascinating information.
Among the data, they have provided a list of the top 20 European clubs by operating profits.
Operating profits allow clubs to finance themselves and be active in the transfer market while still balancing their books.
And the wealth of the Premier League is exemplified by seven of the top 20 being English sides.
Only four clubs made over €100m, all four being from different countries - England, Spain, France and Germany
But some clubs in the top 20 are surprising - Newcastle and West Ham both feature - but Chelsea and Liverpool are conspicuous by their absence.
