After a warm, wet afternoon, a cold front will move through the Houston area late Sunday, making way for a cooler, drier Monday.

Sunday's rains will continue into the evening, said National Weather Service forecaster Mikki Hathaway. Expect isolated thunderstorms and gusting winds later Sunday evening.

Southern winds have kept the weekend warm -- but overnight, she said, the winds will shift and gusts will come from the north and northwest.

Behind the front, we'll still see gusting winds, but Monday will bring cooler air and relatively dry conditions.

The cold front won't be severe. Temperatures will keep dropping through the night and bottom out in the 50s early Monday, then stay in the mid-60s through most of the day.

Tornado watches have popped up Sunday as close to Houston as Lufkin, but Houston is a little too far south to worry about tornadoes this weekend, Hathaway said.
